I've seen place still printing up multi-part forms on dot matrix
printers. It's a little handier than printing out multiple pages on a
laser printer when you also have to write stuff on the paper. Easier to
write it once than it is to write it six times. So dot matrix stuff
will probably be around for a while yet.

I just had to buy a new car battery at Sears, and the invoice was
printed on a 3-part form by a dot matrix printer. There are still
many thousands of them in use.
The well-made ones (like the C. Itoh-manufactured ones, including
the IW) just won't die, regardless of misuse and dirty environments.
