corrupted disk image

Someone sent me the System disk image (.dsk) for the Albert clone, but it
was changed from .dsk to .dat during the email process. I've renamed the
image back to .dsk but the emulators still see it as a .dat file.

Does anyone know if there is a way to undo whatever was changed when the
image that was sent to me? I'm not sure what his emailer did to the file,
but I'm hoping that someone here might know something about how to fix it.

PS -I've requested a new copy in a zip file but the sender hasn't responded.
