ok...log'd on with ansi 2x and it seems to work fine now...not sure about
the other choices that are available that you list...

looks nice ...are you using the hardware fix to keep the beast up now or are
you using the bbs gateway product..i still plan on messing with stuff
at my end but without having a cablemodem and or such..have been putting it
off

the only other thing i can think of is before tossing the hardware device
away..or if it has 2 ports to it..try hitching up that tpro 4.2f RPG BBS pkg
and see how that works it has a bunch of games etc on it also..but the diff
between it and fv/metal is that it actually has a decent null modem driver
built in
and it is old and stupid..it just sits there looking for serial port
activity until it hits...should work....anyway it does so flawlessly with my
worldgroup setup (major bbs) and the dialout module for majorbbs (wg) ...and
i assume with a telnet server like gameserv (runs fossil games from old
bbs's) and a bbs dialout door for serial and or modem it could do the
same...of course that don't get you around the fv/metal problem...but...it
might be a bbs pkg that works dumb with just your hardware device...just
hitch it up...or as mentioned above people might be able to run a gamserv
server...for old bbs door games..and get a dialout door and
hitch that thru thru gameserv (the dialout door is fossil door) and thru
that gameserv setup on an old pc..get to the inet and the apple via that
application ....and
or course you could run other door games from the bbs era also ...this would
also work thru the freeware synchronet package for ms dos
beasts...(www.synchro.net) anyway...some other options to get you apple ii
on the inet highway...

anyway i'll try bbsgateway again when i get time....to see if i can get it
up again unless you have some better advice (but then again if i am gonna
run bbs gateway on my ms dos machine...i could just as well run gameserv or
synchronet on the side as well......2 apple bbs's and an old door game
server setup...what the heck...toss up tw2002 gold server as well..if i have
to use an ms dos machine as a front end to the apple // bbs pkgs..might as
well make it work.....

but...

no time, no time...

still got figure out how to get me some help and get my beast back up in all
its neglected glory....
