had gone to the FAQ to see about it).  I'll go ahead and try a different
mobo if I get the time to change it(I have one spare that is supposedly
working).. I think first I would like to try finding a copy of the game
online somewhere or something to see if it works with a fresh copy on a
brand new disk(I susspect the one I got was on a floppy that was 7 years
old(it was datestamped 1998).  I also have a ROM 03 but I'd rather use a
01 for compatibilties sake.

I got it working...... I seem to remember a lot of the FTA stuff behaving badly when loaded from superdrive... but it was doing it with the smartport too.... so I got a copy of it off fta's website, put it on a disk from a pack I had bought a few months ago... put slot 5 on smartport and booted off it... loaded.... watched as the load sequence looked different... like it had some new animation I didn't see earlier. started the game pushed a bunch a keys on the keyboard and it still played fine. Then I Chucked that other disk. So no need to swap out anything else.
