Re: WTD: Transwarp GS ribbon cable. Improvements?

Richard, if you're going to go to the trouble of replacing the power supply,
consider just making it external, ala "Buggie" style. Any power supply, fan
or not, just adds heat to inside of the case. Some of the newer clone PC
power supplies aren't as butt ugly as they used to be, but still it's
something extra on the desk...
I'm considering that route - just thinking aloud, mostly ;)
I do want my case unmodified, though - I like the way the IIgs looks,
that's a big part of having it.
I solved part of my crashing problem at least. The 4Mb card's SIMMs aim
out of the case, right? Well - when I've had the lid on, the shielding
was pushing the card at an angle, and a bad contact had formed.
Cleaning the contacts has cured it, but I can't put the lid on unless at
the very least, I remove the shielding. Given how much of a beast the
IIgs is for interference I'm not sure I want to do that, but I'll see.
A friend of mine went the external power supply route, be he also went to
some extra trouble - he discarded the metal shielding, mounted two muffin
fans to the lid blowing upward and wired them to a switch and a molex
connector for convenient disconnect. It's pretty slick.
On the lid? Be good for a BBS machine or something - mine is more
cosmetic than that :)
