If you just put a double-speed crystal in your Apple II, the CPU
will run at about 2.05 MHz, and the video will be 120 fields per
second, which your monitor will not like.  That's assuming that
the Apple works at all at this point, which it may not since it
wasn't designed for that speed.  Peripherals are also unlikely to
work, especially the Disk II.

If you're just talking about inserting a 2 MHz rated 6502A part
in the socket without changing the crystal, that will work fine, but
it won't give any speed increase.
