Is anyone familiar with the Videx Ultraterm? I purchased one off Ebay
recently and am attempting to install it in a
][+. I have the board, a video out cable, and what I assume to be the
remains of an auto switch cable (at least 2 wires appear to have been
clipped off.) Facing the chips on the board, the video out cable is plugged
into the two right most pins on the top row. The butchered cable was
occupying the two pins beside the video out cable before I removed it.
When I inserted the board into slot 3 on my ][+ and flipped on the power
switch, the machine appeared frozen on start up. There was no start up beep,
or disk drive activity, and the Apple's native display ram had not been
cleared of power up garbage. There was also no output from the video out
jack on the Ultraterm. I removed the card, cleaned pins, reseated chips and
tried again but had the same result. Out of curiosity I removed the
Ultraterm's firmware ROM and tried again. The Apple ][+ came up normally.
Hmmm...
This seems like a really neat board. I'd like to know how to set it up
properly before giving up on it. Unfortunately I've had no luck digging up
Ultraterm information in my searches on the net. Does anyone have a manual
or know how to set up an Ultraterm for slot 3 in a ][+ with only a video out
cable? Any help would be appreciated.
