I haven't used ZLink in ages so I'm not sure how you change the
settings but I'm sure that ZLink will set up the SSC to the settings
it wants, overriding the default settings of the SSC, so look for an
option about handshaking.  If you have hardware handshaking turned on
in ZLink and you don't have a properly wired hardware handshaking null
modem cable then you won't see anything from your PowerBook.
