That's another thing. A 32 bit, easy to program, Apple II successor running
at... say 128 MHz, given the usually frugal programming style of the average
Apple II programmer would probably begin to make all of these multi GHz seem
like a waste of CPU cycles! You know you're dealing with bloatware when you
need a 1GHz processor in your Wintel box just to make the latest version of
Microsoft Word load in under a minute. Better still. How funny is it that a
IIgs playing Wolfenstein 3D at 8mhz runs just as well as DOOM did on a 75MHz
box? If a 10-to-1 rule holds true, then software written for this 128MHz
32bit Apple II should run as well as equivalent software written on a 1.3GHz
box.
But then again... I might still be just wistling dixie...
