Re: Replacing the 6502 with a faster chip

Yes.

There are two options:

Zip Chip
Transwarp

Both can be found, at times, on eBay.

The Transwarp has a 4 mhz 6502, and produces c. 3.5x greater speed.

The Zip Chip can be found at up to 8 mhz. However, even the 4 mhz version is rather rare, and never cheap.

While surfing the 'net, I found this adaptor

the 6502 with a 65C816 processor. I have not done any research on the
65C816, or for that matter the 6502 and its variants, but is there a
way to replace the Apple's 1MHz processor with something faster?
