Yes, throwing out Apple II's was/is a mistake.

I came '  '  this close to throwing out a II+
I had for years.  So close in fact, that it was
in the dumpster outside of the building I lived in.
It sat there for a day before I reconsidered,
got extremely nostalgic and then went dumpster
diving to rescue that poor relic.  I never did use it
much after that as I'd moved on quite happily
to a newer computer.  I eventually gave that
old II+ to a coworker who seemed really
pleased to have such a historical machine.

Now of course, that I'm back into the II's
I do wish I had it back, but am happy knowing
it's not in a landfill and at least being cared for
by someone who appreciates it enough not
to throw it out for (even) a day! :)
