Lack of working keyboards at a reasonable price led me to look into either
making an adapter of some sort or somehow fabricating a replacement
keyboard; of those two, the first approach would be much simpler. I fired
off an email to Vince Briel and received the microcontroller that the
Replica I uses to translate input from a PS/2 keyboard to the ASCII
signaling that the II and II+ use. I put together a board design yesterday
and am waiting for the BareBonesPCB site to start working properly again so
I can get the board made. It'll be a small (2"x3") board that plugs into
the keyboard socket and can have a mini-DIN 6-pin connector (for direct
connection to a PS/2 keyboard) and/or a 10-pin header (for an extension to
bring the keyboard connector outside the case and to connect a reset
switch).

(I could just wire it up on some perfboard and leave it at that, but I'd
rather have something cleaner-looking than that, and getting boards made is
cheap enough now.)
