No, he's just doing his effort to ensure that decades hence, some Apples
will fetch a high value on that show.
Too often, people lament after the fact about things that were tossed
out or modified in their heyday. But common items were never meant
to be historical. They get used and tossed, and that's why those
that remain become valuable. If everyone kept their Apple IIs, and in
good shape, then they would never become valuable.
