On the ZipGS the speed is set by the oscillator. The -7 on the 65816
just means that the 65816 was tested to run at 7mhz. I think that
when WDC produced a batch of chips they tested them and the ones
that would run at 7mhz but not at a little over 8mhz they labeled
-7. The ones that ran at a little over 8mhz they labeled -8 and
didn't do any more testing. I have a couple of 65816-7 and they'll
run at 8mhz and no faster.
