Re: Apple SCSI Card and IIgs

Hi,

I've recently get an Apple SCSI Card 607-0291. It's seems that it's an Rev A, but not sure, as the ROM Chip doesn't have a number like those found in the FAQ. The card have a date: 1986.

Does this card will work in a IIgs ROM03 or ROM01 ?

The only difference between a Rev a, rev B, and a Rev C is the ROM. Any
Rev A or rev B can be upgraded to rev C by changing the EPROM.
After the 607- 0291 they usually stamped an A, B, or C which denoted
the original ROM but many were upgraded later. If you can use GSOS
with this card then you're fine. It won't do any harm to try so give
it a go.

I can try -I have a IIgs ROM01- but it's the only one i have, and the less I open it the less it can be broken ;).

One more question: I have 4Mb in my IIgs ROM01, with an unknown card (need to open it, see up). This card may have 3.5 Mb. Can it work in a ROM03 ?

Most RAM cards would work in all IIgs but there were some that only
worked in a ROM 1 or ROM 3. Most notable were most of the AE boards.
Technically a PAL or GAL swap would do it but they aren't available
now.
