Re: Junkyard finds

I am glad to know that I am not the only one who get's excited about a great computer find....the guys at work think I am wierd. But hey, I am glad you found it. I am still looking for a great IIe find. Might have some lined up in the next 3 weeks. Couple of guys looking and dumping in the trash (literally) IIe systems from schools. Just happen to find them on some local net boards and told them to hold them for me and I would come and get them.

Well, after a few years of reading about people finding cool things in the
trash (and even finding a II+ myself once) I am happy to announce another
IIgs treasure recued!

I had a carload of old PC parts that I brought to the nearby (30min drive
away in Scarborough) computer recycling centre. Usually there is not much
there. The day I arrived, there was quite a bit of stuff. Laying down my
first piece of scrap, a buried Woz limited edition IIgs caught my eye. I
grabbed it, it's associated hard drive (oooh... the implications of that
drive excited me) and threw it in the car.

I got it home and opened it up. Smiling up at me was an Apple High Speed
SCSI card and a half-populated GS Sauce ramcard (2 megs populated). I
hooked up the drive and powered up - it worked great!

Finally, a IIgs treasure find of my own. I already have a RamFAST, but the
Apple HS SCSI is nice to have. :-) And for Apple fans in the Greater
Toronto Area - take heart, you can find something cool, too!

Cheers
