I can't seem to understand why that would matter. As long as the head makes contact with the cleaning disk it is working, right? Of course this assumption has been made without an intimate knowledge of the mechanism of Apple disk drives. IIRC, the drive reads from the side of the disk that faces down when it is in the drive. Can anyone confirm this?
The problem is that there's a small felt pad opposite the head. The felt pad holds the disk against the head. I've heard of disk cleaners pealing that felt pad off. Then the disk isn't tight against the head and you get read/write errors. On the Apple II the head is on the bottom so it would be better if your head cleaning disk wasn't open on the top. Wayne
