Hi all!
I purchased an Apple IIe computer with a DuoDisk drive today for $5. Not a
bad price, huh? :) It came with one disk I know it's in working order.
In any case, now that I have it, I need software for it! I've Googled around
and it seems the standard way to transfer files between Apple II and a PC is
by a terminal program on both computers and connection by a NULL modem
cable. This is all fine and well, but a big question that pages don't seem
to answer is how do you get your terminal program onto a disk the Apple II
can read?
As far as I can tell from various usenet posts and pages, it's not possible
to connect the disk drive to a PC and transfer that way via a special
program like you can with C64 drives and StarCommander.
It has a Microtek Slotware SV622 parallel card. A cable witth a male
parallel plug on one end and a mini-DIN plug on the other, was connected to
the card when I got it, not sure what that was for. The mini-DIN end had
nothing connected to it.
There is also a ribbon cable connected to a seperate card that leads out the
back to a white and grey plastic box with a metal switch, red LED and a
(SCSI?) port on it and 2 other small holes that look like headphone jacks. I
have no clue as to what that's for. The card the box is connected to has a
battery holder with two AA batteries in it on the back side of the card.
The other three cards in it are the card the DuoDisk drive connects to, a
MockingBoard-c card, and an "AIIE 80COL/64K Memory Expansion" card.
So, what are my options here?
