: Hi all!
:
: I purchased an Apple IIe computer with a DuoDisk drive today
for $5. Not a
: bad price, huh? :) It came with one disk I know it's in working
order.
:
: In any case, now that I have it, I need software for it! I've
Googled around
: and it seems the standard way to transfer files between Apple
II and a PC is
: by a terminal program on both computers and connection by a
NULL modem
: cable. This is all fine and well, but a big question that pages
don't seem
: to answer is how do you get your terminal program onto a disk
the Apple II
: can read?
:
: As far as I can tell from various usenet posts and pages, it's
not possible
: to connect the disk drive to a PC and transfer that way via a
special
: program like you can with C64 drives and StarCommander.
:
: It has a Microtek Slotware SV622 parallel card. A cable witth a
male
: parallel plug on one end and a mini-DIN plug on the other, was
connected to
: the card when I got it, not sure what that was for. The
mini-DIN end had
: nothing connected to it.
:
: There is also a ribbon cable connected to a seperate card that
leads out the
: back to a white and grey plastic box with a metal switch, red
LED and a
: (SCSI?) port on it and 2 other small holes that look like
headphone jacks. I
: have no clue as to what that's for. The card the box is
connected to has a
: battery holder with two AA batteries in it on the back side of
the card.
:
: The other three cards in it are the card the DuoDisk drive
connects to, a
: MockingBoard-c card, and an "AIIE 80COL/64K Memory Expansion"
card.
:
: So, what are my options here?

Your 2 basic options are:

1) Get someone to send you a disk with the terminal
program on it, which won't do you much good since
the disk images are 140K, the same size as the disks,
so they would overwrite the entire disk and would have
no where to go.

2) Use ADT to convert the images to disk as soon as
they transfer. Email me and I'll send you a ZIP file
with all of the versions of ADT inside. You'll also
need a serial card for ADT to work. They show up on
eBay quite often, but if you like I can send you one
for $10 including shipping, if you are in the US.
