Pictures would be interesting.

It sounds like they are TI Linear Predictive Coding speech synthesis
devices, based on the same family of chips that were in the TI
Speak'n'Spell.

The Echo speech synthesizers for the Apple II also used this family
of chips, and the speech synthesis strings may be compatible.

I'm curious about the 25-pin connector, though--that makes me
think they may be designed for the parallel port of a PC.
