I know that. It's just a much smaller hard drive, which means (1) reduced
power consumption than a larger HD and (2) no worrying about excessive write
activity ruining it.

Years ago, I drilled a bunch of holes in the side of a IIe power supply for
better ventilation. It held up to 24/7 usage in a loaded system fairly
well. (I still have it...it replaced the power supply that just died on
me.) Other than that, I don't know that there's much else that can be done.
Even that isn't something Apple would've recommended; they wanted the power
supply to be treated as a "black box."
