Almost right. The group here does focus on the Apple//. I'd hardly say we
(people from the group) are Luddites. Although I personally have not used
OS X, I have used the older system software on the Mac. I have also used
OS/2, UNIX, Linux, Solaris, BSD, Windoze, and a few other operating
systems and computers. My guess is nobody here uses *only* Apple//s here
any more. We, as a group, are also informed about different systems. From
what I've seen, we could turn this group into a group discussing *NIX
(including OS X) but then there would be no place to discuss the Apple//.
The reason we refer people to appropriate groups is not to be mean and
nasty. Rather it is to keep a decent signal to noise ratio. Think of it in
reverse... Why would anybody ever ask an Apple// question in one of the
comp.sys.mac groups? What kind of response would they get if they did?
Would the regulars of the group point out questions about the Apple// are
off topic in a group discussing Macs?

Correct! There are many more Mac groups the original poster can look at
too. Maybe he can find some help in one of them.
