Re: Some IIgs questions
Mike, I would first try to run diagnostic programs on the Transwarp and the
Sirus. Could be a hardware problem...
As far as clicking on a file and automatically having it run the associated
program that created it, my notes with System 6.0.1 read " Holding down
'Option' while double clicking a document (or while choosing Open from the
Finder's File menu) presents the directory dialog box. You can specify what
application to associate with the desired document for a one time launch.
Holding down 'option' and 'control ' while double clicking a document does
the same thing, but the Finder makes a note to launch that application
whenever you open a document of that same kind" { See the file 'System
6.0.1 News for other Shortcuts} However, if you have the program EgoEd lite
from GS+, it WILL load several types of word processor documents (Teach,
text, Appleworks, EgoEd , 'automagically' . And it has a number of neat
features over and above Teach for WP files.
Might also be a good idea to run a 'system self check' and see what shows up
: press command-control-option & reset.
If the hardware checks out ok, you hay need to re-install a virgin copy of
System 6.0.1 -could be a defect.
Do you have the NEC drivers installed? I believe they are available. Maybe
others here can tell you where...
Make sure the first AND last devices in the SCSI chain are terminated AND
in-between devices are NOT. Also, make sure each device has a unique SCSI
device number (there are settings on each device).
Let me know what you find?
