I suspect that the cost of the LANceGS is part of the problem,

that they are likely to receive from it.
I don't really think that is the problem. Contiki was written to
use a serial port and could connect to a serial tcp/IP network
or through a modem. I think many people would be interested in
connecting their Apple][ to a home network or through a modem.
So you think that a lot of Apple //e owners would be willing to
pay $150 to do this?
Sneakernet works pretty well, and my other computers are
already well networked. The question is whether the _incremental_
benefit of networking a //e using Ethernet is worth the incremental
cost, considering that there is _now_ no supporting software.
Which is one very good reason for using the built in AppleTalk of the
IIgs, and a workstation card for the IIs (even on eBay it costs much
less than $150)
Using AppleTalk, you have a network that is simple to setup and
maintain, that will work with Laserwriter IIs as well as Macs, and if
one of those Macs is etherneted (which is cheap compared to the LANceGS)
with proper software your II can take an on ramp to the informaiton
superhighway (how I hate that phrase ;-)

Certainly, the existence of sufficient supporting software for the
card would increase the benefit without significantly increasing
the cost (if free, or nearly so), and so would make it a more
appealing proposition.
