Do you think they are worth having?
I mean can you download and stuff?

I have a LANceGS in my main GS. It is connected to the router that also
serves my network of Macs, and from there to an ADSL connection to the
net. It works very well indeed. On most days, I use Spectrum and SOAR
to read the boards on Syndicomm, and then, if I have time, use my own
TelnetNDA to drop into the chat rooms there. If there is something that
I want to download, I download it directly to the GS using the SAFE ftp
scripts for Spectrum. SAFE has a rather slow interface, but transfers
data at quite an acceptable rate. If my health continues to be ok,

Kim, I had heard that you have been ill. Are you back on your feet now? And how old is that little one you and your wife had? Has it been two years?

I certainly hope all is well with you and yours.

Roy

I
should be able to finish my own ftp client in the near future (ftpNDA).

I also tend to use SAFE and the LANceGS if I want to transfer anything
to or from my Macs. I haven't done any serious tests, but my guess is
that transfers achieve about two megabits per second (obivously not the
10 megabits that is theoretically possible, but still way better than
any other alternative for the Apple II, and plenty fast enough for the
size of things you want to transfer to and from an Apple II).

It took me a lot to get the cash together to buy a LANceGS, but it's
one of the best things I've put in my GS.

Hope this helps.

By the way, the site has been updated, links fixed and there are some
new versions there. (For those who weren't watching A2Central.com.)
