One of the advantages to a collector is that any normal (not gutted)
platinum IIe will have 128K of memory, a 65c02 and the mousetext character
set. When buying a computer on eBay its nice to be able to tell from just a
picture that it includes all those features.

On the older cases its not always easy to tell whether those features are
present. If the person listing the computer says they are that's one thing,
but many of the people selling Apple IIs these days don't have a clue what
features are present.
