Available: Apple III

I have a complete, partially working Apple III system that I don't want
to Ebay. Instead, I am willing to give it to an Apple enthusiast for
the cost of shipping.

First off, what I have is:

1 Apple III CPU w/integrated keyboard and floppy drive
 1 Apple III parallel card
1 Apple III Profile HD controller card
 1 5MB Profile hard drive
1 Apple III external floppy drive
 1 Monitor III

You can find a picture of everything at
http://wsxyz.dyndns.org/photos/a3.jpg

Now the problems:
1) The internal floppy drive no longer spins when power is applied.
The system used to boot from this drive, but now it doesn't work.
The CPU is ok and a "retry" message is printed on the screen,
   but the drive won't start.
2) The Profile does not work as far as I know. I downloaded the 1.3
system disk from asimov and tried to format the Profile once, but
the format program says "formatter driver not loaded" although the
System configuration program says that the profile driver is loaded
and does contain a formatter. The Profile sometimes makes an awful
   clanking noise when spinning up.
3) The Apple III monitor needs work. You can see what is being printed
but it is very blurry and there are lots of diagonal lines on the
   screen. It's not usable.

I dragged this system out of the closet a few days ago and when I found
that it doesn't work anymore I considered trying to fix it, but at the
moment it's just not a worthwhile use of my time. Instead of tossing it
in a dumpster I'd like to give it to someone who might fix it, or at
least use it for parts. So if you are interested, write me an email.

In case you are interested, but not familiar with the Apple III, I should
inform you that the Apple III enclosure is a single cast iron piece with
a plastic lid. It's heavy and the shipping will not be very cheap.

If no one wants the computer I will depopulate the boards, ditch the
case, and put the monitor back in the closet for possible future repair.

One email address of mine should be in the headers, but it has been
flooded by virus-laden emails recently, so it would probably be better to
write to me at

and replace parenthesized parts with the first letters of each word
