Well, back into a IIe I am

Hi All,

Many moons ago, I had an Apple II+ And enjoyed it
very thoroughly. I can remember sitting down and making
all kinds of silly useless basic programs for it, entertainment
for hours upon end.

Then it came to an end. I gave that Apple II+ to a friend
only a few short years ago. Gone with it was a IIC+ and
all the disk drives/monitors I had for the two computers.

Fast forward to today. Hooray, my Apple IIe Platinum
just arrived from it's ebay seller via Canada Post! Man
oh man what an awesome machine. I've got no floppy
disk drive for it, not even a slot 6 controller card, nor a
monitor. But I tell you I've got it running a "burn in"
program right now to ensure it isn't DOA!

How do you do this with no floppy or Monitor?
Hehe Simple: Plug in the computer, turn on the switch
and tag Ctrl-Reset
Then blindly type in this:

10 CALL -1059
20 FOR I=1 TO 5000:NEXT I
30 GOTO 10

And then type 'RUN' - Let it go and you've got a 'burn in'
test program to ensure the apple isn't DOA with any memory
timing errors, etc.

Now I gotta hit Ebay and get me a Disk controller/disk drive
and a color monitor and I'll be all set to play with an
ole Apple II again! - you see, the emulators just weren't
cutting it! :)

One question about the Platinum IIe however, the 64K/80 Col
card doesn't sit in slot 3 anymore - it sits in a slot over by the power
supply and closer to the keyboard. What gives with that?

Also, the switch under the keyboard on the right hand side of the
comp, what is that for???
