: Thanks for the info, Bill! This looks like a good alternative, and it looks
: like it would also support the 2.5" IDE hard drives, if there's enough power
: available. The CF card would probably be the most practical solution
: though, and it would probably take me forever to do enough writes to the
: card to wear it out. If I read the specs for the card properly, the 256MB
: CF card would be the largest capacity that it would make sense to buy, since
: it looks like it will support at most 8 partitions of 32MB each. Seeing as
: how I've never come close to filling up a 10MB Sider hard drive on the IIe,
: I'll probably just pick up a 128MB CF and leave it at that.
You CAN use larger partitions under GS/OS but you have to format them HFS,
and they are subsequently not available to 8-bit applications. My
machine, for instance, has a 250Mb SCSI hard drive, four 32Mb ProDOS
partitions, and the rest as a single HFS partition.
For the curious, the partitions are /GEMINI
/THUNDERBOLT
/TORNADO
/CYCLONE
and :Magnum
Just a little info that might make the signature make more sense. 8-)
