If dejanews/google is the source of this matter, than it doesn't count.
Since Friday evening, dejanews/google has been glitching, and various
newsgroups have disappeared and returned, and plenty of threads have
turned up not to exist.  The archive glitches from time to time but
I don't recall anything this serious before.  Usually, if a thread 
can't be displayed, pressing the reload buttone, sometimes a few times,
let's the message or thread be displayed.  That's not happening this
time.

The problem is not specific to any newsgroup, and I see no pattern
on the newsgroups it is affecting.  There's a whole wave of threads
like this appearing in various newsgroups; in at least one, someone has
said they've mentiond this problem to dejanews/google.  One would assume
they already know of a problem this serious.

So one can hope that the problem will disappear given enough patience.
