I recall seeing a kit advertised in Nibble that was basically a steel
case and an extended cable. the idea was that you'd just pull the
existing keyboard and pop it in the new case. Not sure what you'd do
with the gaping hole in your Apple (duct tape I guess).

I think the extension would have to be something more substantial than
the standard ribbon cable.
