I'm guessing you weren't around here 9-10 years ago, when seemingly every
other Usenet post consisted of an entire previously-posted message with "me
too" tacked onto the end...and such messages were almost always from AOLers.
Usenet has never been the same since.
There's also AOL's nasty habit of buying up every media outlet it can. You
can easily avoid the "Microsoft tax" if you so choose (buy a Mac or buy
parts and build your own x86 box). Try getting the monthly charges for CNN,
TBS, etc. whacked off of your cable or satellite-TV bill.
