I am trying to move some old text files from an Apple ][c to a PC. I've
read over the FAQ and followed the directions on building a modem cable
from an old 5-pin keyboard cable and a buck-50 DB25 female connector
from Radio Shack (i bought the null modem adapter from RS also, since
that's something i could potentially use elsewhere). Checking the
connections using a multimeter, it seems that all the wires are properly
connected and that there are no shorts.
What happens if you bash keys on the //c keyboard (hyperterminal should show
those characters)
I suspect you problem here is the pin numbering! The apple version doesn't
match that on the keyboard connector (Been there done that) I can't remember
what the exact difference is I think one numbers clockwise the numbers
outwards from the middle pin i.e. (NOTE THIS DIAGRAM IS WRONG!!! THE CORRECT
ONE IS ELSEWHERE)
1 5 1 2
2 4 3 4
3 5
It DOES work I boot strapped my //c using the same method. Just remember to
add the delays to the hyper terminal end.
