Hello,
The IRC channel #wfpc (dedicated to Interactive Fiction, Commodore
64/128, and Classic Video Games -- including all Atari systems) is up
and running!
>>> website for #wfpc: http://www.geocities.com/dunric/westfront.html
<<<
If you are using mIRC (or any other IRC client) make sure to connect
using a random Afternet IRC server (#wfpc is supplied graciously by
Afternet.org). Once that is done, you can join the channel (make sure
to read the rules first) and talk about anything related to video
games, the Commodore 64/128 and Interactive Fiction. If you need a
list of servers, you can find them on Afternet's page.
Now, here are "The Rules":
>>> website for #wfpc rules:
http://www.geocities.com/dunric/wfpcrules.html <<<
Here are the established rules for the Afternet IRC channel #wfpc.
Please follow them as best as possible.
1. No flooding/spamming
2. No outside bots
3. No excessive idling
4. No "de-oping"
5. No crude or rude ASCII artwork
A few explanation are in order here:
Flooding/spamming: defined as excessively sending messages in
rapid-fire succession. Any more than 8 in a row will be frowned upon,
and 15 or more will necessitate a stern lecture/ban. Bottom line:
don't flood the channel!
Outside bots: the only bot allowed in #wfpc is X2, provided graciously
by Afternet's network.
Excessive idling: defined as staying in the channel for over two or
three hours without saying a word. I don't mind if you idle, but
please do try to say something every so often. =)
De-oping: defined as intentionally removing "ops" from those given
ops. If an op is being rude or abusive, then please tell me and I'll
probably remove ops.
ASCII artwork: defined as artwork which is displayed via text
characters, letters, numbers and symbols. I don't mind ASCII artwork;
in fact, I encourage it, so long as it is in good taste and doesn't
offend. If this becomes too much of a problem, I will disallow ASCII
artwork altogether (i.e. those abusing the rule will be banned).
Other than that, the rules are fairly straightforward and clear. I
like to follow the Golden Rule, and you should, too!
Enjoy #wfpc!
Sincerely,
Paul Panks (a/k/a "Dunric")
