Re: How to tell a SuperDrive???



Ok, here goes. The 800k drives usually have small lever
switches on the left and right just in the front. Look closely,
you'll see them slightly below the slot where you insert the
disk. Now, the 1.44 or ( 2 mb ) mechanisms use optics,
these appear as tiny white vertical pins where the levers
would be in the 800k mechanisms. Same location. Use a
high powered beam penlight and you'll see them. Other than
this, they are identical. The only other way you can see for
sure is to open the case and on the underside of the disk
spinner is a label. Most Sony drives will say "2 mb" right on
them. I hope this has helped.
