Re: old-school Apple LaserWriter Plus question

Just as an example:
I have a Apple Laserwriter IISC/G I say that in that it was a SC (SCSI
only) Laserprinter, but I got a G board and installed that on it making it a
Ethertalk/ Localtalk Appletalk ONLY Ethernet, no TCP support, printer(and if
somebody out there knows how to get a IIg to use a TCP/IP id I am VERY
interested!).
Also I added an external 160gb SCSI drive and loaded it with fonts. This is a
cool printer for use in my multi-platform enviornment in that I can plug the
localtalk port into a GS and the Ethertalk port into the ethernet hub and
thereby talk to it from both sides and print. It also supports the IWII
emulation that the GS can produce. Getting it to talk to the PC side required
installing Appletalk. COPSTALK on a 98SE and Win 3.11 box, PC MacLAN on the
XP side. Win 2000server has appletalk native. Oh and OS X 10.2.4 still has
support built in for this antique.
My Toner ran out DRAT! I looked high low and sideways and no luck... Then I
went to Office Depot and looked through a very old printer toner guide card in
the back that was hanging from a chain. I think the guys had forgot it was
there. It refered to the fact that my printer used the same cart. as a HP
Laserjet IId. With that in mind I walked up 2 rows and found a Remanufactured
IId toner that was 60 bucks, (note, my printer cost me $5, the board I picked
up for $10, both surplus, so the toner now cost considerably more then the
printer it is in). It WORKS! hopefully this toner will last as long (3
years, and it was used when I got it) as the one it replaced.
