Re: Commodore 64 kills APPLE II

They were... C-64 have superior sound & graphic hardware but poor OS software and slow I/O (and horrible joysticks). The Apple ][s were business machines created from the late 70's. They were eventually outclassed by Big Blue's PC in the eighties. The C-64 was introduced much after the first Apple ][. Applesoft BASIC and DOS 3.3 were far more powerful than Commodore's, again a proof that Apples were business-oriented. I played games on my Apple thanks to an army of clever 6502 programers who produced high-speed graphics routines and precise timing loops.

Where there any hard disks or successful business apps made for the C-64? Never heard of. Younger friends had C-64's to play games, not to type letters, do spreadsheets or manage databases.

Cheers,

Yves

Is it me or does the APPLE II's graphic and sounds stink compared to the
lower priced C64? I was playing around with the AppleWin emulator and the
graphics and sounds are terrible.
