Nonsense.
This is a profoundly uninformed statement.
The II was created by Woz to play games.
That was in 1976/77.
It was years before Commodore had computers that had color and graphics
to rival the II.
about FIVE years before the C-64 appeared. If you couldn't top the II
five years after it was released....
After Woz designed control circuits for a disk drive, then the II had
the hardware to be a business computer.
But the company was concerned about the II's ability to compete as a
business machine, and so they designed the III. And the Lisa. And the
Mac, then the FatMac, and finally they had a winner with the MacPlus.
They were eventually
outclassed by Big Blue's PC in the eighties.
Not really. Certainly not by the first PC. But those three little
letters did get machines through the doors of the IT departments of
Forbes 500 companies.
The C-64 was introduced
much after the first Apple ][. Applesoft BASIC and DOS 3.3 were far
more powerful than Commodore's, again a proof that Apples were
business-oriented. I played games on my Apple thanks to an army of
clever 6502 programers who produced high-speed graphics routines and
precise timing loops.
Where there any hard disks or successful business apps made for the
C-64? Never heard of.
In Great Britian the C-64 was a serious business machine.

Younger friends had C-64's to play games, not to
type letters, do spreadsheets or manage databases.
Cheers,

Is it me or does the APPLE II's graphic and sounds stink compared to the
lower priced C64? I was playing around with the AppleWin emulator and the
graphics and sounds are terrible.
