Best time to visit is during July and August. All sorts of local festivals within an hour or two drive. Come armed with a guidebook and a map. ;-)
It's also the best time to look at the Apple// stuff I mentioned earlier. It's outside in a shipping container, and right now any more than a few minutes out in the cold is dangerous. Especially if you aren't prepared. In another month or so things should be melting.
