Re: Apple IIgs Upgrade From Apple //e

I wrote an article for II ALIVE magazine about five years back, calling
this the STEALTH IIGS --- spouse would not realize that you snuck another
computer into the house, since it looks just like the old IIe you always
had. I will locate the file and will upload it to the group. I think I
built 4-5 of them myself.

An advantage is that the IIe keyboard has a better "feel" than the newer
detachable IIgs keyboard. Steve Buggie

: changing the connectors would be easy enough for some if you can find them

: I beg to differ, I have 3 different IIGS RAM cards and only one fits.
: -the GS Juice Plus does not (front edge to square),
: -the Sirius RAM does not (can't fit SIMMs to the back),
: -but the GS RAM Ultra does, provided you:
: a) cut a small notch inside the //e lid (not visible on the outside), and
: b) mod the RAM card for compatability with ROM-1.

: since I couldn't wait for an //e with GS upgrade knowing they are rare now,

: Upgrade. I call it an "Apple II PeGS". It has the advantage of the extra

: is modifying the old base to allow for the IIGS connectors.
