changing the connectors would be easy enough for some if you can find them
all. the keyboard connector is easy enough to find, but the power connector
is another story.

I beg to differ, I have 3 different IIGS RAM cards and only one fits.
-the GS Juice Plus does not (front edge to square),
-the Sirius RAM does not (can't fit SIMMs to the back),
-but the GS RAM Ultra does, provided you:
  a) cut a small notch inside the //e lid (not visible on the outside), and
  b) mod the RAM card for compatability with ROM-1.

since I couldn't wait for an //e with GS upgrade knowing they are rare now,
I built my own, but went a step further and built a Platinum //e with GS
Upgrade. I call it an "Apple II PeGS". It has the advantage of the extra
keypad, making it rarer than an upgraded beige //e. The hardest part by far
is modifying the old base to allow for the IIGS connectors.
