I have used Crossworks for years now and have run into a problem trying to
get an Appleworks 5.1 SS file converted to a Microsoft works SS
This is what I have tried so far:
1) transfer Apple SS file using 'transfer' on PCT utility ie. transfer
myfile Myfile.asp
The file is transferred to an MS-DOS directory. I then use Crossworks to
convert the file to Microsoft works, with the result being a file called
myfile.wks.
I then load this file into the Microsoft speadsheet program. Sometimes it
loads and is visible, many times I get an error message. IFFF it loads, I
immediately save it to the hard drive on my Compaq. HOWEVER, if I then
attempt to re-load the file from either the original 3.5 disk OR the hard
drive on the Compaq, I get an error message. What gives? I am really
stumped here.... any help anyone??
I also tried using appleworks 3.1 and 2.1 with the same results. tried
a DIF of the 3.1 file and brought it up in AW 2.1 and resaved and went
through the conversion process - same result. ???????
