Actually, I just re-phrase that it's a pity that video cards do cater for
more specific modes of there own & I do believe directX does help in that
regard for supporting more hardware. There was a time when you could just
plug in your VGA card & use the interrupt guide for the specific mode it
caters for. Naturally with interrupts now, if you were write some routine to
detect which video card is used, it would be huge. Which is why I simply
believe in writing or porting programs which support the standard modes. The
only program I wrote (as a matter of use for my computer), which is specific
to my Cirrus Logic VGA card, is generally used for the features that card
can provide, in which case swiches the Internal Display on my Laptop to an
External VGA monitor connected, under CP/M-86! :-)

Indeed, I'm not saying that 'hey I'll just write all my programs for my
Cirrus Logic video card', I am sorry I was sending that message.
