Re: apple IIe

the numeric keypad connector is wired in parallel to the main keyboard
connector so any problems with the main keyboard will reflect on the
keypad. From the IIe technical reference manual/s schematics, It
could mean a problem with your keyboard (shorts, etc which explain why
the numeric keypad is flaky as well) or the 3600PRO keyboard encoder.
or the character map ROM. If you have a different working unit it
would be easy to swap things in and out but I presume you don't. Your
caps lock key could be broken too. and if any of the above mentioned
chips are socketed, they could have been jarred lose during transport.

Um. now that I'm looking at the diagram, I see some solder pad X
cutoff area around the ROM. Can I connect this to a 2 pole switch (1
to 5v other to gnd) to achieve something like the //c's keyboard
switch? Do IIe keyboard encoder ROMS contain the dvorak layout on its
alternate keyset? are there any other dvorak typists out there
reading this?
