Re: help with transfferring software to an Apple IIe

"Heresy" is such a loaded word. Let's just say that I have a different
perspective:
	I learned learned AppleWorks v1.3 in 1994,
bought my first Apple //e the next year,
used and still use the same computer and AW3.0 to:
		 keep track of school records,
		 write letters to +parents,
							+teachers, and
							+ the district office, and
about five years ago, I complete my Masters using my
	trusty //e!

Hobbist indeed! If it's important, why trust it to anything, but a ][?!!

Now, as to the question of keyboarding and typing--several nice programs come
to mind (Keyboarding Klass, BeagleWrite, AppleWorks). It would be no trouble
at all to send them to the poster.

APPLE ][: Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

<< This may be heresy, but the kid would be better off with a PC. Pentiums are
give-away items now.
Even if you had a lot of software for the Apple II, I'd still recommend a PC
because that's what the kid will use in the real world. Sorry folks, but
the Apple II is a hobbist's computer these days. I think it would be great
if this kid got interested in the Apple II platform in addition to knowing
how to use a PC, but I wouldn't even suggest a Mac (even though I love Macs
too) because the real world is 95% Wintel. Teaching kids life skills is too
important to fool around with. Imagine applying for a job and stating that
you were an expert with the Apple II. Or going into the computer lab at
school and looking for an Apple II because that's all you know how to use.
Sorry folks, they're gone.
