I am in possesion of a real old clock card, The battery is no longer
attached to the card (I think I desoldered it a long time ago before
putting it in storage, good thing too or it would have leaked) I
couldn't find the manuals or software disk for it anymore. I was
gonna write a short prodos 8 driver for it so I could possibly use it
on my //e. The card was used for my old Apple ][+, it wasn't prodos
compatible, I think it was made before prodos 1.0 ever came out,
because I remember the disk was in old dos 3.3 format. It doesn't
have any firmware ROM on it. Looking at the pcb traces, it only has
connections for A0 and A1 (does that mean in only decodes the 1st 4
addresses $Cx00-$Cx03? where x is of course the slot number). I think
you write some "register" into one of the addresses and read/write the
result on the other address, but I'm not sure anymore, this was 1980's
or so. Anyway, I'm not even sure if the clock would work without a
battery, but I assume it'll take system power when provided. It's as
big as a language card, has 8 dip switches on the upper left corner
labeled "interrupt setting" has a variable capacitor below it (which i
assume is for calibrating it in case it goes off sync). On the top
it's labeled Time ][. If I remember right the manual said it was
Applied Engineering, but I don't recall seeing any ads for it. The
card could be a hong kong made clone of an early AE product. Anyone
have docs/software for it would be greatly appreciated.
Incidentally AE's Timemaster H.O. came out with ads that claimed
compatibility with any clock on the market. Would this apply in this
case? .
