Aye.
% echo "ibase=16;3FFF" | bc
16383
% echo "ibase=16;3FF" | bc
1023
(I love the UNIX 'bc' utility!)
Looks like all he needs to do is drop one 'F' :-) Too bad I didn't get
that luxury back in my school days. ;)
As for the whole idea of 1024x768; I think that's certainly a very
intriguing idea. I'm just afraid to think of exactly how many apps took
shortcuts and did direct screen access or calculations; it's more than
'just a few', I'm sure.
ROM01->ROM03 brought out a good number of apps that broke because they'd
hardcoded something, and is the main reason why I only run ROM01 in my
KEGS emulator setup.
Still, if I'm wrong on that point -- and I'd LOVE to be wrong here, then
so much the better!
As for patching the toolbox... I presume that once the code's been
developed, then it should just be a matter of supplying a TOOLxxx file
in the GS/OS system folder somewhere (Tools?) that patches only specific
routines in specific managers, and otherwise, other routines runs without
any alteration. It's been a long time since I last looked at toolbox
routine patching, so my memory's a little iffy on that point.
