I'm not sure what TCP/IP stuff for $5 has to do with newbies. Besides, it's
pretty useless without an expensive network card, isn't it? Not likely to
appeal to someone who just bought a computer for $5.

Maybe you should bundle it with the network card, for the few people
interested in such...

I might do that, because I'm interested in helping newbies and keeping the
platform alive. But I'm really not interested in trying to make money from
the Apple II platform. You, on the other hand, are.
Makes more sense for me to let you make a few bucks.

Here, I'll help you out. Here's a list of suggestions I collected of
software newbies might need.
Make it available on floppy in various formats, sell it as "Jocko's Newbie
Pac." That'd pump some fresh milk into your dead cow for sure!

Asimov v1.3 is fastest for 5.25" diskettes; Asimov v2.0 works fine too and
can handle more kinds of images

Copy II+ versions for DOS 3.3 only (e.g. v5.x)
ProDOS/DOS 3.3 (e.g. v7.4). Also DiskMuncher, ShrinkIt v3.4

Would definitely include Copy II+ versions for DOS 3.3 only (e.g. v5.x)
and ProDOS/DOS 3.3 (e.g. v7.4). Also DiskMuncher, ShrinkIt v3.4, DSK2FILE
v5.7f, Tchange, Block Warden (from ProSel 8), and Biscit or Binscii.
(Maybe, also, Shrink and Unshrink v2.1 for 64k Apples.)

A very good telecom util to include is Modem MGR (DOS 3.3 and ProDOS
versions).

A very good BASIC programming util is Program Writer.

Handy IIgs utils include GS-ShrinkIt, Asimov v1.3 and 2.0, PMPUnZip,
File Manager NDA, GScii NDA, UnforkIt, Diskcopy, ScreenCapture CDA, SpeedGS.

1) Shrink it
2) Copy II Plus 7.0 or 9.0 or whatever
3) Lazarus I. Long's Image Converter (allows you to change between .po,
.dsk, and .img formats on the Mac)
4) Asimov
