Some people have said that pre-formatting the floppy to 800K ProDos disks
helped. Also, be sure to use one-hole 800K capacity disks, not two-hole 1.44
meg floppies.
You might also be able to disconnect your floppy and temporarily connect an
older SuperDrive or 800K drive and try that, if you don't have access to an
older Mac. You could remove the drive from one of your IIgs 3.5" drives,
though it's a lot more difficult than it ought to be. I'd just take it apart
enough to be able to connect your Power Mac's ribbon cable.
