Here's some more info on the project from the web page. Cool project!

Here is description of the board I am developing: Features Notes
Standard Apple II series expansion Card 3" x 6" Typically placed in slot 7
On board CompactFlash socket I have tested with SanDisk brand CompactFlash
cards. Giving up to 4 logical 32M ProDOS drives, in ProDOS 8 and 6 drives
under GS/OS (with additional driver)
On board IDE header connector 40pin IDE drive can't be used simultaneously
with CompactFlash without firmware revisions (not planned)
Power connection for IDE hard drives Some drives may exceed the power rating
of the Apple's power supply. I recommend the CF!
Cost: $100 Does NOT include CF memory card or shipping costs.
User selectable jumpers to select between up to 8 versions of firmware
Currently my firmware works with the IIe enhanced and the IIe Platinum, IIgs
ROM1 and ROM3.
New version of Firmware SmartPort support, and many other enhancements.
